Thilina De Silva
A film is created within a new universe. Just as much as I believe in the reality of life, believing in the reality of that cinematic universe makes my journey easier. In this universe, all emotions like sorrow and joy exist as recurring moments—much like the loops of cello tape (celluloid) film.
I consider it a privilege for an actor to navigate that reality by building it through the perspective of the character they represent. Here, all the rules and constraints of ‘Thilina’ (the self) are abolished; gaining an understanding of the character in that specific moment is the true joy I derive from cinema. All of this is simply my perspective as the person I manifest as in this moment

A Detailed Look at My Filmography My career in acting started with an exciting, albeit humble, beginning on the big screen. My very first screen appearance was in director Priyantha Colambage's film, Dedunu Akase, where I portrayed a small, unnamed character. This experience paved the way for a more substantial role in the Tele Film Wasanthe, broadcast on TV Derana. In this project, I took on the memorable character of Regie, a significant villain. Regie was depicted as a local thug, ironically hailing from a first-class, respectable family within a small village setting. I officially transitioned into feature films with my debut main cinematic role in Sheysha, directed by Isuru Gunathilaka. Here, I embraced another antagonist role, playing the complex character of Bandara Nilame. Subsequently, I was cast in the film Father, directed by Chaminda Jayasooriya. This project was a powerful period drama based on a true story, offering me the opportunity to portray the contrasting role of Palitha, a genuinely good and honorable man. This role demonstrated my versatility beyond villainous characters. Most recently, I ventured into the historical genre, playing the character of Raghu in the epic film Ravana.

Music journal
I’m a guitarist driven by passion rather than profession, focused on pouring my soul into every string I play. Music, for me, is a language of emotion, energy, and connection. My journey truly took flight after joining the underground band Thakahaniya, where raw sound and authentic expression define who we are. Right now, we’re riding a powerful wave of creativity and good vibes—having already played three electrifying shows and just launched an ambitious nationwide tour across Iceland. Each performance pushes us further, strengthens our bond as a band, and fuels our hunger to reach new audiences, share our sound, and leave a lasting impact wherever we play.
